Meme ganked from aiela, because Monday is Memeday.
1. Did you date someone from your school?
No, I never did. I had crushes on a few people, but never actually went out with any of them. Alas, the cruel acuity of hindsight.
2. Did you win anything in Seniors Who’s Who?
Senior’s wha wha?
3. What kind of car did you drive?
A 1977 Buick Century, nicknamed The Red Baron
4. It’s Friday night…where are you?
In Greenville (the nearby college town) gaming with friends. Sometimes I didn’t get home until Sunday.
5. Were you a party animal?
I wasn’t even a party vegetable.
6. Were you considered a flirt?
Believe it or not, no. I didn’t become an irrepressible flirt until college. In high school, I was painfully shy, though I tried to hide this with a fairly outlandish public personality.
7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
I was a drama rat.
8. Were you a nerd?
As far as I know, I still am. But that’s ok. Nerds make more money now. 🙂
9. Did you get suspended/expelled?
Nope. The closest I ever came was when a former good friend flipped out and decided to slug me. The school had a no-tolerance policy on fighting which demanded a one-week suspension, but I successfully argued that running to a clear spot where no one else was likely to get hurt and then curling up into a ball so he could pound on my back until an adult could intervene didn’t really constitute a “fight” from my point of view.
10. Can you sing the fight song?
I spent such pep rallies as I was unable to avoid attending sitting up in the corner of the bleachers and reading a book. The only time I looked up from whatever I was absorbed in was when my friend Shannon was on the cheerleader squad, because she was cute and I had a crush on her. (See: #1)
11. Who were your favorite teachers?
My three favourite teachers were Mrs. Batten (chemistry), Mrs. Manning (English), and Mr. Osborne (drama). I’m not entirely sure they ever quite figured out what to make of me, but each of them in different ways taught me about things more valuable than their actual assigned subject.
12. Where did you sit during lunch?
In the library, either reading, playing chess, or working on RPGs with my gaming friends.
13. What was your school’s full name?
Williamston High School. (Dull, isn’t it?)
14. School mascot?
Tigers.
15. Homecoming court?
I have no idea. Wasn’t really paying attention.
16. If you could go back and do it again, would you?
If I could go back knowing what I know now, maybe I’d be willing to do a sort of Sam Beckett leap into my former self episode. You couldn’t pay me to go back there and stay, though.
17. What do you remember most about graduation?
Not attending it. It conflicted with the gaming club. I pointed this out to my guidance counsellor, who was horrified at my priorities, and even more so when I said “Why? I can pick the diploma up on Monday from the office, right?”
18. Where did you go senior skip day?
Don’t know that we had one.
19. Have you gained some weight since then?
Good grief, I think I’ve gained an entire *person* since then.
20. Who was your Senior prom date?
Didn’t go. Only prom I attended was as a sophomore, when I was one of the waiters. They released us from our duties just before the last song, and I got to dance with my friend Shannon, after which I floated home. (See #1, #10)
21. Are you planning on going to your 10-year reunion?
I did, in fact, attend my 15 year reunion with kitanzi My only regret was that I couldn’t arrange for one (or more) of my other sweeties to come along as well, just to see how people reacted to my showing up with girls on each arm. (They say, you know, that living well is the best revenge.)
I haven’t heard yet if there are plans for a 20th, though it would be this year.
22. Who was your home room teacher?
My senior year it was Mrs. Williams.
23. Who will repost?
Anyone who’s bored or nostalgic, I imagine. My money’s on bored.
24. Did you play any sports?
Nope. I never was much of a sports fan in the running-sweating-getting dirty way. There are sports I like to *watch*, but the whole culture of competitive high school sports was terribly unappealing. (I even used my three years of Drama to be excused from PE, which was a bit of a coup.)
25. Do you still talk to people from school?
Only a couple, really. Shannon (see #1, #10, #20 *grin*) and I still talk on IM from time to time. Jeff remains one of my best friends and we talk almost daily, again mostly on IM. And recently Joey (who was a freshman when I was a senior, and another of the drama rats) found me on Facebook, which was kinda cool. My mother occasionally passes messages to me from various classmates she’s run into around town, but I don’t really hear from most of them. But, yknow, I’m not hard to find on the net, so I don’t imagine they’re looking for me either.
26. What year did you graduate?
1988

So is Shannon (see #1, #10, #20, #25) aware, these days, that you had a crush on her then? Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂
Rob Wynne
Heh. Oh yes. In fact, the first thing I did when I posted this was to send her the link.
I’m reasonably sure she knew *then*. In fact, I remember once, we were both doing makeup in preparation for a show, and joking around with each other, and one of the kids in the show asks us “Are you two going together?” And we both looked at each other and went “Nahhhh.”
We were very close friends, and spent a great deal of time together from Grades 10-12. But we never dated.

Do you maybe mean 10 and 15, or 15 and 20? We haven’t been together for 10 years yet.
Rob Wynne
You’re right. It was the 15th that I attended with you. I missed the 10th.

We haven’t been together for 10 years yet.
It only seems like 10. (*G,D,RVVF*)
Rob Wynne
In truth, it feels like a lifetime. Before….that was another person, and another life.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. That’s so sweet.
