Interestingly, there’s some evidence I’ve read recently that the number of the Beast isn’t 666, but should be 616 instead. This amuses me greatly, since 666 is what has all the superstitions reaction, while the number 616 continues to be merrily applied to all manner of things.

whereas (in this universe, at least) exponentiation groups right-to-left, as

which … um, has about 36,305 digits.

Our kosher butcher said that he had another customer whose phone number also ended in 6666. theorized that somebody at the phone company had said “That looks like a Jewish name; maybe these people won’t come ranting back at us about the number of the beast.”
