Today’s challenge invites us to share a song with someone’s name in the title. Obviously lots to choose from, but this song is one I’ve loved since I first bought the album it’s own, the year it came out, and which I cover form time to time.
Here’s Concrete Blonde, with “Caroline”
Laura Gallagher
This one is fairly disturbing for me https://youtu.be/D9FC34rbeio
Rob Wynne
I can imagine it would be. *hug*
Eric Coleman
My favorite CB song. It reminds me of, well, so many people I have known.
Heather Munn
Not my song, but I’ll see your Caroline:

Rob Wynne
This was actually the first song that came to mind, but the original wasn’t on YT, so i went with the Concrete Blonde song (which I also love) instead.
Heather Munn
Rob Wynne Yeah, I’m constantly disappointed that Dave singing Caroline isn’t on YT, but this dude’s cover isn’t tragic, so use it when I need to share the song. But stilll…..miss D&T singing it.
Rob Wynne
It is, however, here!

Heather Munn
Yay!!!
Paul Kwinn
It’s funny: my first thought was an Elvis Costello song, but even though a name is the most notable lyric in the chorus, it’s not the title. So I’ll choose this one: Elvis covering someone else’s song: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HVcfPzoXWnY
Joey Shoji
I was given that album by multiple folks because of the other one-word name song. ๐
Jim Poltrone
From an underrated album: Turnstiles. (His 3rd of 4th, depending on whether you count the initial release of CSH.) I love the use (and sound) of the [Fender] Rhodes electric piano here, and Richie Cannata’s soprano sax.
Bruce Adelsohn
Here’s one that I’m fairly sure you (Rob) love as much as I do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9bmy3eRopU
Rob Wynne
Oh, lord, yes I do. I’d love to do that one, but the guitar part is sadly beyond my skill.
Bruce Adelsohn
This arrangement looks very playable.
Rob Wynne
I’m sure it is for someone. ๐
Heather Munn
One of my favorites for it’s subtlety:

Jim Poltrone
This one goes back to 1974 or ’75. This band has its roots in Columbus and Cincinnati.

Rob Wynne
I had a dream once where I was performing this as part of a group in a circle at OVFF with Steve Macdonald, Daniel Glasser, and Pete Grubbs. I have no idea why, but in my dream, we sounded awesome. ๐
Jim Poltrone
Let’s realize that dream sometime soon.
Paul Kwinn
I’m in for that.
Jim Poltrone
If I could play bass guitar, or upright bass, I’d want in.
Blind Lemming Chiffon
The first one that popped into my mind -- and a great song: https://youtu.be/lIYjz5ne7R4

Paul Kwinn
! This is the song I was referring to in my comment. I thought the name of this song was My Aim Is True, but it turns out that’s just the name of the album. Live and learn. Thanks Chris. :{)}
Chris Malme
Paul: I did wonder. ๐
In your defence, although the album listed the title as “Alison”, a lot of DJs used to refer to it as “Alison (My Aim Is True)”
Elaine Roberson

Kathy Mar
Timothy
Kathy Mar
Creepy pop song about cannibalism!
Tim Ryan
Eat me, eh?
Rob Wynne
Fun trivia: “Timothy” was written by Rupert Holmes, most famous for his #1 single “Escape (The Piรฑa Colada Song)”
Kathy Mar
That means he has two entries in the Bad Song Book!
Roger Davis
Eric Coleman
That whole suite of songs from the second side of Love It To Death is my second favorite Alice music, after Halo Of Flies.
Roger Davis
I love his early stuff and will still listen to the newer, but this phase of his career is my favorite.
Annette Spirit Davis
Tim Ryan
“Weird Al” Yankovic -- Ricky

“Weird Al” Yankovic -- Melanie
From the wierd Al song “Melanie” from the album even worse… this is a fan film
Juanita Coulson
Does “Josephine” or ” Ragtime Cowboy Joe” count?.
Rob Wynne
Of course!
Blind Lemming Chiffon
Is that the โJosephineโ that Cliff Edwards sang about, or a different one? His started โWho is the meanest gal in town? Josephine!โ
Eric Coleman
Just cause I knew it had to be out there … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1xbKfA4EpQ
Elizabeth Barber
Rob Wynne
I really love that arrangement. The original is full of the fiery intensity of youth, and full of longing and urgent potential. The acoustic version is a reflection of a sadder, wiser man, looking back with a wistful ache. Masterful.
Daniel Reitman
Dell Christy
I have two from Gordon Lightfoot… https://youtu.be/h5Xk6DsGvt8.

I’ll raise you another Caroline! (With Elton John on background vocals.) ๐
