While we were over at Bill and ladyat‘s yesterday to pick up khaosworks, we stayed for about an hour while they finished their gift exchanges. Someone gave grandbaby Elliot a set of coordinated clothing, to which someone remarked “Obviously been visited by “Queer Eye for the Straight Baby”. This made me think of the whole craze back in my youth of things like “Muppet Babies”, and, well , my mind will go where it will:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best
wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible,
low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the
winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable
traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or
secular practices of your choice, with respect for the
religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or
their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions
at all… and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and
medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally
accepted calendar year of 2004, but not without due respect for
the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions
to society have helped make America great, (not to imply that
America is necessarily greater than any other country or is the
only “America” in the western hemisphere), and without regard to
the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith,
choices of computer platform, or sexual preference of the wishee.
By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This

the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited
by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.
This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual
application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until
the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes
first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or
issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

In other news, Bakersfield prostitute strips attacker and takes him to police
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) – A skinny rapist met his match in an angry, 275-pound prostitute, police said.
Adrian Castillo Ramirez, 140 pounds, allegedly tried to sexually assault a 24-year-old Bakersfield prostitute who was nearly twice his weight.
But she took his knife, stripped him naked and paraded him in front of other prostitutes, after asking how many of them had ever been forced into sex at knifepoint. Then she tried to take him – still naked – to the police station, reports said.
Castillo was charged with failing to register as a sex offender, and with committing forcible sex acts on the 24-year-old and on a 37-year-old woman in a previous incident. He also was convicted of four counts of rape in 1988.
Castillo pleaded innocent Wednesday, and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail, police said.

Snarfed from lysana:
Qveere Eye for Thye Medieval Man
It’s interesting how pervasive this show has become in the short time it’s been around. I’ve seen no less than 5 mentions of it in daily comic strips, and countless parodies such as this one and this one which I posted the other day.
I admit that it’s one of my favourite things on television, and I do hope it’s not going to be overwhelmed by its popularity and turn into something less fun than it is now. Until then, i’ll enjoy the ride.
Linked via gridlore, perhaps the funniest story I’ve read in…..ages.
The Biker, the quiet street, and the evil attack squirrel of death…
yahtzee63 ponders what would happen if the Fab Five visited various SF characters. Hilarity ensues.
